The Science of Family Restoration

Family Counselors

  Restoring Alignment Across Generations

Your family will work with two dedicated Systemic Counselors—one male and one female—who specialize in navigating
the complex effects of addiction, trauma, and generational family dynamics. Their role is to help restore trust, rebuild
communication, and secure the long-term emotional health of the family as a whole.

Relationship Counselors

Stabilizing the Core Adult Partnership of the Family System

You will work with two dedicated Relationship Counsellors — one male and one female — who specialize in relationships
affected by addiction, trauma, and complex relational dynamics. Their role is to help restore trust, strengthen communication,
improve understanding, and support healthier interactions between the important adults within the family system.

Developmental Psychologists

  Restoring the Developmental Environment

Each child and adolescent in the family will have the opportunity to spend time with their own exclusive, dedicated, same-sex
Developmental Psychologist. Specializing in how a parent’s active addiction and the resulting family trauma impact a child’s natural
growth, their focus is entirely non-diagnostic. Rather than conducting evaluations, their purpose within the Deslongchamps Method
is to help these young family members process the difficult environment they have had to navigate, clear the emotional blockages left
in the wake of addiction, and safely guide them back toward a secure, restored family bond.
Clients who already work with an established physician and nursing staff may choose to continue utilizing
those professionals throughout the process. When appropriate, relevant medical records, laboratory results,
and physician recommendations can be shared to ensure continuity of care and seamless communication.

Children (Ages 3–12)

They create a safe space for young children to process complex experiences through age-appropriate developmental
approaches, gently relieving the anxiety, fear, and confusion left behind by parental instability, while re-establishing the
internal security needed for healthy emotional growth.

Adolescents (Ages 13–19)

They support teenagers in safely unpacking the emotional weight of family challenges, navigating identity questions,
and resolving relational difficulties, ensuring their transition into adulthood is no longer burdened by the past, but anchored
by a secure connection to the family system.

Dedicated Personal Mentors for Your Child or Adolescent

Securing the Attachment Bridge and Restoring Relational Safety

Each child and adolescent will have a unique opportunity to work  with a dedicated
same-sex Mentor who serves as a consistent and positive presence throughout the program.
In households with existing nannies, tutors, and staff, these Mentors provide something distinctly different:
focused, individualized guidance grounded in the realities of addiction and family restoration.

Focused Mentorship

Through regular interaction and shared experiences, they develop a trusted relationship that offers guidance,
encouragement, perspective, and support tailored to your child’s or adolescent’s personality and needs.
They help strengthen confidence, emotional awareness, social intelligence, resilience, leadership qualities,
and healthy habits while addressing the unique impacts of family patterns.
The Children & Adolescent Mentors serve as trusted guides during critical developmental stages.
Carefully chosen for their expertise and lived understanding, they deliver the rare, focused attention
needed to help young people develop strength, direction, and long-term wellbeing.

Collaboration with the Family

All Mentors work closely with the Psychologists, Family Counsellors, and you as the parent.
They provide discreet insights while fully respecting and reinforcing your authority.

Complete Family Inclusion

  Restoring the Generational System

Adult Children

We recognize that the impact of trauma does not dissolve with adulthood, nor does it remain confined to a single household.
For families with adult children, we design a cohesive, multi-tiered framework that seamlessly integrates every individual into a
unified path forward, regardless of geographic or residential separation. True recovery requires the entire generational system to heal together.

Parents & Siblings

When one member of a family system experiences the pain of addiction, the emotional shockwaves reverberate through every layer
of the lineage. This fundamentally includes parents and siblings. We fully integrate the broader family into our continuum of care,
granting them complete access to our specialist resources to heal their own secondary trauma and fortify the family’s collective future.
